About Joy

Joy A. Johnson was inspired by the natural and inner beauty of her late Mother and model, her passion for the artistry of beauty and makeup was fostered in later years but has led her down a path to pursue her place in the beauty industry.

Joy’s natural sense of style and keen business sense have resulted in her establishing Faces of Joy Makeup Artistry in 2008, which was expanded in 2010 with the addition of her companion company, Nails of Joy. Recently she has combined the two to create Nails & Faces of Joy.

Professionally trained at Bennett Career Institute in Washington, D.C., Joy had the privilege to study under many of the industry’s best. She enjoys sharing her artistic knowledge through teaching other artists as well as consumers about the art of makeup, lashes and world of beauty. Joy knows and appreciates the value of education and the positive change it can bring about. That is why she stands by her motto “There is nothing more powerful than and talented and educated beauty professional.”

Joy’s creations have been featured on the prestigious runways of Mercedes Benz Fashion Week and graced the pages of publications such as Uptown Magazine. She has also participated in numerous events for Lancôme, Nars and Cover Girl Cosmetics. Her makeup brushes have graced the faces of the cast of the stage play Vagina Monologues and nail brushes have polished numerous nails for Music Videos.

Currently, Joy serves as an International Educator for American International Industries for such brands as Ardell Lashes, China Glaze Nail Lacquer, a Freelance Makeup Stylist for Lancôme, Freelance Makeup/Nail Stylist for Nars Cosmetics and the Owner/Operator of Nails & Faces of Joy Studio in Waldorf, MD.

She resides with her husband and daughter in Southern Maryland. Joy is based out of Washington DC but is available in NY & LA.
